For some damn reason, the draw is just plain gone and I did nothing. At least I now have new spare LCM, software, and hope. It cured itself? Doubt it, but will ride with it as is and see. I opened doors, turned on lights, started car, put back to sleep and checked again. Just for kicks since I had reinstalled my old LCM after cleaning-up a tad of rust and found draw still there, I thought I would check one last time, confirm 300Ma draw still existed after sleep and to my chagrin, after 16min, my draw was. Went out to car armed with a exact replacement module and hopefully scanner needed to code-in my vin and miles. I received BMW scanner 1.4.0 and software. In my case, I found the exact module my car uses (Lear LCM III-B SW:2 HW4.3) from forum member.

Google PASoft and you will find good links such as PASoft for dummies and other info on software with great tips on how to use PASoft as any *manual* on proper use does not seem to exist- I know the *real* PASoft software use3d to be FREE for all to use, but that it know is being sold for few hundred bucks, but have not found a PDF on how to use by software creator as of yet, but some very good posts if you search using google and not a forum search necessarily. Does anyone on forum have experience with specifically the XCar360 piece? If I get reply, I will post here.

#E46 bmw scanner 1.4 vin mod#
I have inquiry to Xcar360 asking if their interface requires such a mod or not. Others say that interfaces they received (don't know their sources) did not need these pins soldered.

There are a number of people who have bought the interface that say that the interface, as received, does not allow one to code-only read, and that you must open the interface and solder pins #7 & #8 together to enable interface to function fully. You must contact them or do your own searches to get PASoft. Other have also said XCar360 does no longer send small disks and has nothing in their package. BTW, for those looking, just long onto the main XCar360 site and the link to the software is contained on their site under "frequently asked questions". The next day, I tried again and got the software.

XCAR360 sent me a link to download the software and the first day I tried to download, the site must have been down or too busy as I could not connect. So, the $29 interface 1.4 from XCar360 is the tool you need to then run the PASoft software. Not many responses to my post, but time heals all searches. There are excellent PDFs online showing how to do it step by step and I was simply trying to obtain the same coding equipment that I thought I would get when I ordered 1.4.0 but now wonder if PASoft is something else? Rather simply "fess-up" to fellow members that I did not do my homework first as it was only $30 so I plunged ahead, but now need it painfully pointed-out what I got, what I didn't get that I should have, or whatever.

My end goal is simply to code a LCM module I have coming with my vin# and mileage. My questions are quite basic: Is this 1.4.0 the same as what is referred to as PASoft, or is PASoft the software that should be used with this OBD adaptor for lack of another word, or should I have gotten software with it? Is PASoft proprietary so it is "pirated" and therefore can't be mentioned in a sale? Should I have received software or do I need to source on my own for use with the scanner? But as I said, I just got OBD plug in deal larger than just a connector, but more like a plastic 2" x 4" "box" and a USB cable. Being for a 2002 540, I don't need the round 20 pin connector so did not ask for one. Just OBD plug-in and cable to connect to my computer. No instructions, no software disk, no link to a site to obtain software, NADA. I received the scanner 1.4.0 yesterday from Xcar360 and all I received was the plug in OBD module-like device and a cable to connect this module to USB computer port. I bought what I *thought* I was seeing used on the forum "interchangeably"- that being BMW scanner 1.4.0 and PASoft. I let what lots of men have (I call it Di*k-head momentum) where we get so fixated on something that we rush to do it and then research. I bought the diagnostic scanner mentioned above from Xcar360 and admittedly did not do my homework. They say no question is a stupid question except the one we don't ask, so here I go.
